Before and after: Sometimes the final detail makes the biggest impact. This custom Roman shade brought warmth, texture, and elegance to the finished space.

When a Beverly Hills homeowner finished a beautiful kitchen renovation, the last piece of the puzzle was the windows. Here is how we brought the whole room together.

A Kitchen Remodel That Needed the Right Finishing Touch

This Beverly Hills home recently went through a full kitchen update. New counters, new finishes, a whole new feel in the space. But once the dust settled, the windows still had the same tired treatments that did not match the new design. That is where we came in. Our goal was simple: give this kitchen window treatments that felt as intentional and elevated as the rest of the room.

A Roman Shade with a Light, Airy Sheer Fabric

For the main kitchen window, we installed a custom roman shade in a beautiful light patterned sheer fabric. This fabric choice was key. The homeowner wanted privacy and softness without losing the natural light that makes a kitchen feel warm and open. A heavier fabric would have weighed the window down and clashed with the bright, updated finishes in the room. The sheer pattern gives just enough texture and interest while still letting the light filter through beautifully throughout the day.

Before and after: This corner kitchen window went from a beautiful source of natural light to a finished design feature. Top down bottom up cordless honeycomb shades added privacy, light control, and a clean look while keeping the corner profile sleek and minimal.

Solving a Tricky Corner Window with Top Down Bottom Up Honeycomb Shades

The real design challenge in this kitchen was the corner window setup. Corner windows are notoriously tricky because two treatments meeting at the corner can create a bulky, awkward projection that sticks out into the room. For this project we used cordless top down bottom up honeycomb shades on both windows.

This style let us do two things at once. First, the top down bottom up function gives the homeowner full control. They can drop the shades from the top for privacy while still letting light in from the bottom, or raise them from the bottom for a clean, unobstructed view. Second, and just as important for this layout, choosing the right shade profile kept the projection where the two shades meet at the corner to an absolute minimum. That kept the whole corner looking clean and intentional instead of bulky.

Going cordless also mattered here. In a working kitchen, especially one that just got a full remodel, the last thing anyone wants is dangling cords catching on hands or getting in the way near counters and windows. Cordless honeycomb shades keep the operation smooth and the look streamlined.

Why This Combination Worked

Pairing a soft sheer roman shade on the main window with structured honeycomb shades on the corner window gave this kitchen layered textures without feeling mismatched. The sheer fabric brought softness and pattern to the focal window, while the honeycomb shades handled the more complex corner with precision and function. It is a great example of how mixing treatment styles in the same room, when done thoughtfully, can solve real functional problems while still looking cohesive.

What This Beverly Hills Homeowner Had to Say

"Wonderful experience from start to finish. Scott came to our house armed with samples and expert suggestions so that our windows were outfitted perfectly. The installation was expertly done. Scott followed up to make sure we were completely happy with everything before he even accepted the final payment. We couldn't recommend them more!"

Frequently Asked Questions

What are top down bottom up shades and why are they good for kitchens? Top down bottom up shades can be lowered from the top of the window or raised from the bottom. In a kitchen this means you can let light in near the top of the window while keeping privacy at counter height, which is especially useful for windows that face the street or neighboring homes.

Are cordless honeycomb shades safe for homes with kids or pets? Yes. Cordless shades remove the risk of dangling cords, which makes them a safer choice for busy households and a cleaner look overall.

How do you keep corner windows from looking bulky when two shades meet? It comes down to choosing the right shade profile and headrail depth for the space. We measure and plan corner installations carefully so the shades sit as close together as possible without interfering with each other's operation.

Can a sheer roman shade actually provide privacy? Light patterned sheer fabrics offer daytime privacy while still allowing natural light through. For full nighttime privacy, we can pair them with a room darkening liner or a secondary treatment depending on your needs.

Do you serve homeowners in Beverly Hills and the surrounding areas? Yes. We work with homeowners throughout Beverly Hills, Royal Oak, Birmingham, and the greater Oakland County area, along with Macomb County communities like Shelby Township, Clinton Township, and Sterling Heights.
